Work Release Is Still Custody

The Campbell County Work Release Program authorizes temporary movement for approved work. It does not mean the participant has completed the sentence or “already left custody.” The program generally applies to sentenced inmates, with limited exceptions and several approvals. Until a final jail, court, or DOC record says otherwise, the accurate status is in custody and participating in a program.

This difference protects the release record from a common error. Seeing a participant outside the building does not establish discharge. An approved work period ends with a return under program rules. A final Campbell County release instead ends the facility custody episode and should have an actual date, time, disposition, and destination. If state time continues, that destination may be another Kentucky corrections placement rather than the community.

Confirm Campbell Work Release

Begin with the person’s legal authority and sentence. Campbell JailTracker is a current-custody roster, not a past-release archive. A name missing from it may indicate discharge, internal movement, transfer, federal omission, or a data problem. Kentucky VINE adds custody-event information, while the Campbell court and CCDC records explain the reason and physical departure.

1. Check current CCDC reporting without treating absence as proof of release.
2. Search Kentucky VINELink by exact name or identification number and note the reporting facility and event date.
3. Request the CCDC program movement and final release screen for the specific booking episode.
4. Get the signed Campbell court judgment, work-release approval, and later release or amendment order.
5. If state time is involved, search KOOL for current location, status, supervision, and discharge information.

Compare dates carefully. Program approval, the first work day, court authorization, and final facility departure are separate events. A court order can permit a step before CCDC processes it. The CCDC record supplies the actual physical release time, while the court order gives the legal basis. Campbell County release records provide the wider routing path if the receiving authority is unclear.

Work Release Approval Chain

Campbell County’s process is unusually specific. The official Work Release Program page describes a chain of review rather than automatic eligibility. For a felony participant, paperwork can move from the offender or outside sponsor through the County Attorney, the Jailer or a designee, and the Circuit Judge. Multiple approvals reinforce that the program is structured custody, not informal freedom.

A denial, removal, or change in participation does not itself establish a new sentence or final disposition. Use the corresponding CCDC movement record and signed court order. When the participant is serving state time, Kentucky DOC may also control credits, supervision, or the receiving placement.

Work Release Records Contact

The Campbell County Work Release Program uses the main CCDC contact. Ask for existing, person-specific records from a bounded custody episode. Useful items include admission or booking record, program placement and movement records, final release screen, actual departure time, release reason, destination, receiving authority, and any existing transport, transfer, or discharge order.

The CCDC open-records channel calls for a signed request with the requester’s printed name, delivery address or email, commercial-purpose response, precise description, and applicable Kentucky-resident statement. The official form lists hand delivery Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. CCDC says it determines compliance within five days excluding weekends and legal holidays. A local copy-fee schedule was not verified, so ask for an estimate.

Records may be redacted or withheld under Kentucky open-records exceptions and corrections-specific limits. Ask the custodian to identify the legal basis if an item is withheld. Online disappearance is not proof of destruction. When a record is unavailable, ask which records series and retention schedule applies.

State Sentence After Work Release

Some Campbell program participants may have state-sentenced status. In that case, leaving CCDC does not necessarily end Kentucky DOC custody. Search KOOL by name or DOC or PID number. Compare identity fields, location, current status, supervision, conviction details, and the exact “Projected Release Date” label when present.

A projected date is an estimate. Sentence credits, disciplinary action, detainers, court orders, parole decisions, and other lawful changes can move it. After physical release, KOOL may show parole, probation-related supervision, mandatory reentry supervision, or discharge. Parole is conditional community release through the state process. Probation is court-ordered community supervision. Neither should be mistaken for continued jail confinement, and neither is the same as final discharge.

Contact it for procedural verification when the state record shows active community supervision. The final discharge record belongs with the authority that administered the sentence.

Campbell Court Program Orders

Work release is tied closely to the court record. Campbell County Circuit Court may hold the felony judgment, program approval, sentence amendment, revocation, or later discharge order. District Court may hold misdemeanor and other lower-court matters. Ask for the docket plus the signed document, since docket shorthand alone may not explain the action.

Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. A signed order explains judicial authority, while the CCDC release screen proves when physical processing ended.

If another hold existed, one court order may not have permitted community release. Match each case and detainer to its responsible authority. A final work-release discharge should not be inferred from one favorable docket event when another sentence or hold continued.

After Campbell Program Discharge

Final discharge can lead to the community with no corrections supervision, to parole or another supervised status, or to another custodian. The destination field is the key routing fact. For a local release, use CCDC and the court. For a state transfer or supervised release, add KOOL and District 7. For a federal or immigration authority named in the record, use that agency’s system.

It is not used because no research says the Campbell Work Release Program is an ICE program. Using it would blur unrelated custody paths. Note: A person may leave the work-release program yet remain in custody at CCDC or another correctional location.
